Beauty Review: Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss

Benefit Cosmetics recently released a new set of lip glosses inspired by their most popular boxed blushes and bronzers. I tried the lip gloss in the color Bella Bamba and absolutely loved it! The gloss proves true to it’s name as “ultra plush” and is smooth on the lips. Free of any stickiness, this lip gloss is fun and easy to wear. The color Bella Bamba is a bright coral, perfect for summer. Although it comes out of the tube rather pigmented, it provides a simple, sheer look on lips. The packaging comes in a squeezable tube which makes application easy and fuss free. I would definitely recommend these lip glosses, I plan to try out more colors soon!

(Here’s what it looks like on)

Ginger Trifle

One of the most perfect desserts for summer is a trifle. I especially love the ginger trifle recipe from Martha Stewart’s book Great Food Fast. It is incredibly easy to make and is also a perfect dessert to bring to a barbeque party.

The Webster for Target

The Webster Miami has been added this year as one of the “Shops” at Target. The Webster at Target combines the brand’s fun prints and easy style with an affordable price. The collection is full of bright colors and flattering lines perfect for summer. I purchased  two shirts there a few months ago. One shirt (the first pictured) has held up well and has proved itself to be good quality for the low price. However, the second shirt (the white one pictured bellow) has not held up as well as I would have hoped. It remains a toss-up about the quality of the line. I have enjoyed both my purchased of the line and would recommend that any fashionista buy a piece from the collection for their Summer 2012 wardrobe.

How To: Camping

As a true girly girl, I have always found my family’s annual camping trip to be a challenge. While it provides great relaxation, it also proves to be a huge complication for one’s appearance. Just as I have mastered ways to get out of fishing and creek walks through trips to local towns, croquet and wine tastings, I have learned how to look cute camping. I am not one of those girls who packs her whole makeup collection and manages to blow out her hair perfectly while living in the outdoors. Rather, I have developed simple and fast ways to make camping a little more bearable.

While still at home, I like to paint my nails a dark color so that when they get dirty no one will be able to notice. I really love the OPI shade Hank if You Love OPI. When I am packing my bag I like to include lavender sachets so that my clothes stay fresh. For my beauty routine while camping I like to keep things simple. Instead of cleaning my skin with my usual cleanser, I opt for a facial cloth like the Yes to Cucumbers ones. I use a toner to remove any excess dirt and then I use my normal moisturizer. I coat my fair skin in plenty of sunscreen. I like to use the Josie Maran sunscreen for my face and the  Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch for my body. For makeup, I only put on a tinted balm, like the POREfessional, a lip tint and some mascara.

For outfits I like to embody a boho vibe which I don’t usually incorporate into my style at home. I usually wear Minnetonka Moccasins because they are easy to put on in a hurry and are close toed. I have included pictures bellow of the different outfits I wore on my camping trip.

Breakfast Quinoa

I love this breakfast quinoa recipe from Martha Stewart! It is healthy and uses simple, easy to find ingredients. I am usually not a huge fan of quinoa, but I love this breakfast rendition with blueberries, cinnamon, and a pinch of brown sugar.  I made a batch for my family and they loved it! I put extra toppings on our dining table so people could add more blueberries etc. The recipe is easy to follow and produces a great product. I believe this to be the perfect breakfast meal for summer when berries are in season and when simple cooking is a necessity. Comment bellow and tell me your favorite summer breakfast!

By Way of California

As a Bay Area girl, summer has always meant fog on the horizon and wind in my hair. It means sleepy mornings, North Faces in San Francisco and cold beachy towns. I love the look of the antique white dress for a cold summer. It hints at the season without being too obvious- a loud floral patterns would look out of place in the fog. Navy compliments the Pacific for days at the beach. I also love the look of this necklace. It has a natural look as if it was made from found objects. It provides a nice polished look without seeming too done-up.
