Fall Watermelon Hues

fullsizeoutput_2520Dressing for fall is such a struggle for Northern Californians! It stays warm here basically until Thanksgiving, so it can be hard to pull out the cords and the thick sweaters!

I have loved this outfit throughout the warm fall because of the beautiful rich color of the green skirt matched with the dusty pink top. The outfit is also perfect for warm weather with the loose flowy skirt!

Weekly Vlog Week of September 17th

Hello readers!

Alright, so I will quickly admit I am a little late in posting this video, but it was my first time filming and editing a vlog so it took longer than expected! I am so proud of how this project turned out and definitely will be posting more video content in the future.

You can watch this vlog and get an update about what I do in a typical week. In this vlog I attend an art festival, hang out with friends and travel to the midwest.

Please enjoy and let me know what you think!

Sausalito Summer

As summer starts to come to a close, I find myself reaching for my favorite warm weather pieces more and more. We have had record heat here in Northern California the past month, and it is hard to feel excited to wear fall piece when it is still over a hundred degrees outside! While I probably won’t be transitioning into my riding boots and puffer vests anytime soon, I am starting to think about putting away some of my very summery pieces. One fashion rule that I follow very closely is not wearing bright white after Labor Day. Give me an antique white or a winter white in autumn, but for me the bright summer hue has no place in my wardrobe come September.

Since I’ll be packing up these pieces soon, I’ve been trying to get some extra love out of them. I have loved this skirt from the Banana Republic Outlet this summer. The cut outs are very on trend and it’s so easy to pair with things. I paired it with a simple button down and of course my white Jack Rodgers which will also be going away soon. What have you been wearing during the end of the summer?

Monday-Spirations

August11Most people know the famous Woody Allen quote, “Eighty percent of success is showing up.” I think the above graphic is a nice take on that idea. I always find myself reminding myself of it whenever I feel unmotivated to head to class, especially on a Monday morning! I hope you’re off to a good week!

Miss Independent: What I Wore on The Fourth of July

IMG_3206Shout-out to my girl Kelly Clarkson for this blog post title. Here’s a brief, and very very delayed, look at what I wore during my Fourth of July festivities. I love to keep things festive and dress in my very best red white and blue. I adore the United States shaped necklace I wore. At school I’m an American studies major and I wear this necklace when I have tests or papers due for good luck.

IMG_2721The Conservatory in the gardens of Filoli

This week I’ve been home for spring break. It’s been a relaxing week filled with catching up with old friends, hikes, museum dates with my mom and quality time with my family. Coming home can be such a gift. It grounds you and re-energizes you for the next task ahead. For me that’s a full Spring Quarter with classes, an editing internship, a campus job and a heavy involvement in student government. Thanks to my refreshing week at home, and the pearls of wisdom my parents impart each time I see them, I’m ready to charge ahead! Hope your first weeks of spring have gone well!
