Lo’s Loves

Hello friends!

This past week has been a fun one, with many out and about activities in The City. I checked out the Aladdin show at The Orpheum which was fun for the Goldstar ticket price, but not a must-see. I also went to the Asian Art Museum’s exhibit on Korean couture, which proved a little disappointing since the historical garments featured are all modern reproductions. Looking forward to spending some time outside this weekend as the weather clears up.

What fun plans do you have for Veteran’s Day weekend?

Here are a few things I have been loving this week:

  1. The “Queen’s” Last Hurrah: Such a random thing, but United Airlines had a goodbye party for its last 747 flight from SFO to Hawaii and it looked so cute! I have been flying on United since I was a little girl, and this party made me reminiscent of the flights I have taken on the 747 jet. And honestly, how cute is the lei that they put on the airplane?!
  2. Sufjan Stevens’ Song: I am such a fan of this angsty artist and I am loving his new-ish song “Mystery of Love“. It is a little whiny and definitely not for everyone (my brother who is a fan usually of Sufjan promptly professed his dislike for the song when I shared it with him) but personally, I’ll be listening to it all weekend.
  3. Meryl Streep Meets Anna Wintour at Vogue: Vogue’s YouTube channel is easily one of my favorites, and I love this recent video with two powerhouse women! They talk about their work and their belief in a future female POTUS, plus there’s plenty of Devil Wears Prada references!
  4. A Confused Cow: I think cows might be my favorite animal they always seem so playful and sweet (if not already plainly obvious by that sentence, I don’t eat red meat). This video of a cow who thinks he is a dog brought an instant smile to my face.
  5. Bow Shoes from Eugenia Kim X Banana Republic: How perfect are these heels for the holidays? The price is not so perfect, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for them if they go on sale!

Whale of a Good Time

My brother Thomas recently graduated from college in Upstate New York, and of course this was not an occasion this California girl was going to miss! Tom went to school in Poughkeepsie, and since we had a lot of family traveling for the big event my parents decided to rent a house in nearby Rhinebeck for the occasion. The white shuttered house was so cute and on an amazing property with lush green lawns. It truly had that Northeast charm that I grew familiar with during my childhood summers in Massachusetts. The classic aesthetic inspired me to wear one of my preppiest outfits. I love love love this J.Crew whale sweater that I bought a few seasons ago, but in Northern California it always feels like a bit too much. However, in Upstate NY the preppy look fit right in! I wore it with a fun full yellow skirt for a look that’s perfectly summer.

State of Grace

IMG_2571I recently found myself with some free time during an afternoon in San Francisco. So, I did what any sensible style blogger would do—I acted like a tourist in my own city and took some blog pictured in one of my favorite areas of the city, Union Square. This is one of my go-to outfits during spring. I love this dress and how easy it is to dress up with accessories. Since it’s finally spring, I had to add some mint and lavender jewelry pieces! I toted around my favorite kate spade new york carry-all (perfect for days in the city when I need to bring a lot of things). I wore a pair of chic and comfortable snakeskin flats. The outfit comes together in simple, understated elegance— it puts me in a “State of Grace”.

What I Wore July Fourth

photo 2-2

In case you haven’t yet gathered this from my blog, I love any reason to celebrate and be festive! The Fourth of July is no exception! You can always catch me in fully red, white and blue ensemble celebrating my country’s independence at a parade or watching fireworks! For this Fourth of July, I really put attention on my fun pleated skirt and tried to keep the rest of my outfit a little more neutral. Of course I complimented the outfit with some red, white and blue accessories! What did you wear this past Independence Day?

Deserted

IMG_1268Maroon has been one of my favorite colors of this season. I love the soft, velvet material in this pleated skirt. To keep it from looking too precious, I paired it with a white tank adorned with gold studs. My personal style tends more to be on the girlie/preppy side of things and I usually steer clear of studding. However, this shirt included studs in such a simple subtle manner that works perfectly for me. I also like that the shirt is white, so it keeps the studding from looking too dark and Gothic-inspired.

By Way of California

As a Bay Area girl, summer has always meant fog on the horizon and wind in my hair. It means sleepy mornings, North Faces in San Francisco and cold beachy towns. I love the look of the antique white dress for a cold summer. It hints at the season without being too obvious- a loud floral patterns would look out of place in the fog. Navy compliments the Pacific for days at the beach. I also love the look of this necklace. It has a natural look as if it was made from found objects. It provides a nice polished look without seeming too done-up.

Summer Breeze

Hello Readers!

Sorry I have been gone on hiatus for so long! I just finished up my first year at college a few weeks ago and in my time off I have rested and seen old friends. I will be posting often during the next few weeks to make up for missed time! I pulled together this outfit while focusing on a major summer fashion trend- pastels. Pastels are an easy, fresh, and ladylike way to stay stylish through a relaxing summer. For my outfit I also included the chambray trend and a pop of neon color. Can you guess which famous San Francisco landmark these pictures were taken at?

XOXO,

Lauren
