A very popular theme this past year has been the revitalization of ’90s trends. It’s so funny how cyclical fashion can be, now as an emerging adult I have been wearing items very similar to those I wore as a child. This past winter I started to embrace the layering trend. I remember in the late aughts being exposed to this trend through one of my favorite movies Clueless. During a scene in the movie, Cher wears a black spaghetti strap shirt over a white T-shirt. I remember thinking at the time that is so ugly, who would ever wear that? And yet, here I am a few years later embracing the trend. I think what’s great about the trend is it’s versatility. In this outfit I was able to layer a warmer winter turtleneck under a summery cotton sundress for a transition look. Looking forward to seeing what past looks will be revised soon.
Shout-out to my girl Kelly Clarkson for this blog post title. Here’s a brief, and very very delayed, look at what I wore during my Fourth of July festivities. I love to keep things festive and dress in my very best red white and blue. I adore the United States shaped necklace I wore. At school I’m an American studies major and I wear this necklace when I have tests or papers due for good luck.
On my family’s recent trip to England, I discovered (and fell in love with) the clothing brand Reiss. This party dress was one of the purchases I made from the brand and I absolutely love it! The detailing on the bust evokes Art Deco styles and the color is just so fun! I took these photos with my brother while at our hotel in Bath. It was a lot of fun joking around and working on the blog together!

My outfits are easily categorized as feminine and girly. However, sometimes in the summer I like to take a break from my typical dresses and wear carefree shorts. I love this pair because they are a soft material and have a clean front. This makes them super easy to dress up for a day out. I like to wear them with accessories like bracelets and headbands, just to maintain some of my classic girlie style. How have you been wearing shorts this summer?

I love this print dress. It’s perfect for a day by the sea and the color is the epitome of summer. Since the pattern is so busy, I like to wear this dress with solid colored accessories and my summer must-have, sunglasses!
I love wearing maxi dresses in the summer. There’s something about wearing such a long dress that just makes me feel in control. When wearing one, you are destined to turn heads and make a statement. I like to wear such long dresses with cropped sweaters or jackets, such as this jean jacket from American Eagle. Keeping your hair up and out of the way is a great option because it’s less fussy and allows the focus to be on your fabulous dress. I find that wedges or cute sandals offer great ways to complete maxi dress outfits. How do you like to wear maxi dresses?
In California, when it rains… it pours. I find it becomes so easy to slip into the usual routine of wearing jeans, a sweater, wellies and a raincoat. A great way I’ve found to branch out of this is by donning a trench. I always feel so grownup when I wear a trench coat, they are very sophisticated. Wearing a trench can make a usual jeans and tee ensemble more polished. I like to wear mine with a simple a-line dress and some fun flats.
I recently went to a huge pumpkin patch right outside of Sacramento. Usually I don’t like living in the heart of agriculture land, but at harvest time I love it. I wore a fall staple, a chunky knit sweater, with a fun patterned skirt.

Stripes are one of my favorite trends to wear every summer, however as the weather turns colder they become harder and harder to work into one’s wardrobe. I love this dress that I bought in early September from the Gap. The navy color allows it to be approachable during the fall months. It was a great thick, structured pattern and a zipper detail. I paired it with a burgundy bracelet and my two favorite fall staples- ballet flats and a headband.
A very special thank you to my dear and old friend Nicole for helping me out with these pictures! I had such an amazing time at your beautiful Vassar College!
The Webster Miami has been added this year as one of the “Shops” at Target. The Webster at Target combines the brand’s fun prints and easy style with an affordable price. The collection is full of bright colors and flattering lines perfect for summer. I purchased two shirts there a few months ago. One shirt (the first pictured) has held up well and has proved itself to be good quality for the low price. However, the second shirt (the white one pictured bellow) has not held up as well as I would have hoped. It remains a toss-up about the quality of the line. I have enjoyed both my purchased of the line and would recommend that any fashionista buy a piece from the collection for their Summer 2012 wardrobe.
