My Current Go To Outfit

fullsizeoutput_2577Hello readers! Long time, no chat!

I wanted to share with you one of my favorite go-to outfits lately when I have felt like just throwing something together and heading out the door. For me, a simple T-shirt and skirt can be so comfy but also cute when you throw on some accessories like a denim jacket and a hairpiece.

Can I just have a minute to talk about how much I have been LOVING bandanas the last few months? They are seriously so versatile! I love throwing my unruly curly hair into one, or using one to jazz up a handbag. If you are interested, Carly the Prepster did a great video about how to fold scarfs and bandana on her YouTube channel.

My love for the knotted T-shirt has been pretty well documented on this blog, and I love that Madewell is now selling T-shirts that have tails in the front that are meant to be knotted! It creates the perfect fitted look without adding too much bulk. What have been some of your go-to outfits lately?

Fall Watermelon Hues

fullsizeoutput_2520Dressing for fall is such a struggle for Northern Californians! It stays warm here basically until Thanksgiving, so it can be hard to pull out the cords and the thick sweaters!

I have loved this outfit throughout the warm fall because of the beautiful rich color of the green skirt matched with the dusty pink top. The outfit is also perfect for warm weather with the loose flowy skirt!

Landslide

IMG_5094With the days warming up and summer just around the corner, I find myself abandoning my spring florals and frequently opting for my summer staple—stripes! I love the unusual style of this  black and white striped dress. Placing stripes of differing sizes on the top and bottom of the dress creates a nice take on the traditional striped sundress. Since it’s black and white, I find the dress incredibly easy to change up! I’ve styled it a different way each time I’ve worn it—I’ve dressed it up with pearls and flats, I’ve worn it to school with a cardigan and a statement necklace, I’ve paired it with a clutch and heels for a date—there are endless possibilities! I love to add a bit of summer flair to the dress by throwing on my jean jacket. I think the cropped jacket works perfectly with the structured dress and it adds just a hint of menswear to the look. To keep things fun, I added a simple mint bangle and metallic gold flats.

Modern Love

I love the jewel tone styles this fall. When I saw this dress at Madewell, I knew I had to have it. The green is so on-trend and it is the perfect shade to bring out my sometimes green eyes, pale skin and my golden tinted hair. The color is so rich and beautiful that you really do not need to add anything extra to this dress. Wearing it simply makes the best statement. I did add small purple earrings to continue the jewel tone theme, but I kept the rest of my accessories plain, as to not take away from the fabulous dress.

How have you been wearing jewel tones this fall?

Winter Winds

Oxblood was one of my favorite trends this winter. I loved this skirt and have featured it in past blog posts. For a day out in Chicago, I bundled up in layers and wore this skirt with a chambray shirt. I love combining chambray with skirts and more feminine pieces. For me it keeps the menswear trend more girlie and polished. What were some of your favorite winter trends?

I know it is not a major event, but I can’t keep myself from decorating my apartment and getting excited to wear green. Even though it has been super commercialized in America, it makes me feel more connected with my Irish heritage. I think this green skirt is the perfect way to wear the color this Sunday. Green is not used super often in wardrobes, and using it in a skirt is even more unexpected. Also, what better way to celebrate the holiday than by wearing Pantone’s color of the year, emerald!
