Love-Its!

I haven’t done one of these in forever! Just a quick little look into my life and the things I’ve been loving recently.

A song I’ve been loving recently (the demo version is also really good!).

Birds of a Feather

Bird Dress-6This dress is another one of my favorite finds from my trip to England (Check out my other blog post featuring English clothing). It’s from Cath Kidston, a brand my mother and I discovered while shopping in Oxford. The brand’s accessories were like an English Vera Bradley and the clothing reminded me a lot of Anthropologie. I have loved wearing this dress! The cut is so perfectly feminine  and the pattern is truly unique and quirky. The brown color is a must for fall and I’m sure I will get plenty of good use out of the dress in the coming season.

Red, White and Gray

IMG_1477For me, winter fashion is simple, elegant and warm. I love this outfit because it feels so simple and easy, but has little feminine details that make it put-together. I love the creamy white of the sweater, which makes it ever so appropriate for the winter months. The dress has lovely lace neck detail that keeps it from being too plain. One of my favorite added touches is the splashes of red. I can find it so difficult to include color into my January wardrobe, but I find small accept colors to do the trick.

Deserted

IMG_1268Maroon has been one of my favorite colors of this season. I love the soft, velvet material in this pleated skirt. To keep it from looking too precious, I paired it with a white tank adorned with gold studs. My personal style tends more to be on the girlie/preppy side of things and I usually steer clear of studding. However, this shirt included studs in such a simple subtle manner that works perfectly for me. I also like that the shirt is white, so it keeps the studding from looking too dark and Gothic-inspired.

Rainy Day Works

IMG_0692

In California, when it rains… it pours. I find it becomes so easy to slip into the usual routine of wearing jeans, a sweater, wellies and a raincoat. A great way I’ve found to branch out of this is by donning a trench. I always feel so grownup when I wear a trench coat, they are very sophisticated. Wearing a trench can make a usual jeans and tee ensemble more polished. I like to wear mine with a simple a-line dress and some fun flats.

Wedding Belle

My cousin recently got married last September. She followed the all-so-popular country themes wedding complete with mason jars and beautiful wildflowers. For the picnic wedding, I needed a dress that was fun, simple and classic. I found just that in the color blocked Kate Spade dress I wore. Its clean color scheme added a simplistic chic element, while the bow belt made it girlie and fun. The best part of the dress was probably it’s full skirt- it was perfect for dancing! My outfit also had a lot of feminine details, like the pretty lace hem to the dress and the bows on the end of my sweater sleeves.

By Way of California

As a Bay Area girl, summer has always meant fog on the horizon and wind in my hair. It means sleepy mornings, North Faces in San Francisco and cold beachy towns. I love the look of the antique white dress for a cold summer. It hints at the season without being too obvious- a loud floral patterns would look out of place in the fog. Navy compliments the Pacific for days at the beach. I also love the look of this necklace. It has a natural look as if it was made from found objects. It provides a nice polished look without seeming too done-up.
