Penchant for Pumpkins

fullsizeoutput_24f5.jpeg

Earlier in October, I went down to Half Moon Bay with some friends to go to a pumpkin patch. It was such a fun day complete with a hay maze and lots of festive flair! You can actually see part of that day in my Vlogtober here:

For this day I wanted to wear something very fall feeling, but it was still pretty hot in the Bay Area so I had to wear something pretty light. I opted for this red plaid skirt from Banana Republic that I got a few years ago. It’s one of my favorite fall pieces with its fun full skirt, and the pattern was perfect for a day on the farm! I paired it with a tank top made out of an oatmeal colored thermal material. This was actually the only piece that I picked up from my trip to the Mall of America and it has proven to be a great option during a warm fall. Of course, no fall outfit is complete without some booties!

Gingham Goodbye

fullsizeoutput_2318Gingham has kind of the preppy-yet-trendy runaway hit the summer, and it was a total must-have for me all season long. Since the weather in Northern California is still pretty warm I have been wearing my favorite summer looks one last time as sort of a goodbye gesture.

To me, this look perfectly summed up the summer 2017 trends— gingham, ruffles, off the shoulder tops, and a bright color. I loved pairing the busy pattern of the top with the bright solid skirt. The ruffle wrap in the skirt gave it such a great flare, but it did make me a little nervous when I would wear the skirt on windy days!

What have some of your favorite summer looks been?

Sausalito Summer

fullsizeoutput_2269

As summer starts to come to a close, I find myself reaching for my favorite warm weather pieces more and more. We have had record heat here in Northern California the past month, and it is hard to feel excited to wear fall piece when it is still over a hundred degrees outside! While I probably won’t be transitioning into my riding boots and puffer vests anytime soon, I am starting to think about putting away some of my very summery pieces. One fashion rule that I follow very closely is not wearing bright white after Labor Day. Give me an antique white or a winter white in autumn, but for me the bright summer hue has no place in my wardrobe come September.

Since I’ll be packing up these pieces soon, I’ve been trying to get some extra love out of them. I have loved this skirt from the Banana Republic Outlet this summer. The cut outs are very on trend and it’s so easy to pair with things. I paired it with a simple button down and of course my white Jack Rodgers which will also be going away soon. What have you been wearing during the end of the summer?

Whale of a Good Time

IMG_2756

My brother Thomas recently graduated from college in Upstate New York, and of course this was not an occasion this California girl was going to miss! Tom went to school in Poughkeepsie, and since we had a lot of family traveling for the big event my parents decided to rent a house in nearby Rhinebeck for the occasion. The white shuttered house was so cute and on an amazing property with lush green lawns. It truly had that Northeast charm that I grew familiar with during my childhood summers in Massachusetts. The classic aesthetic inspired me to wear one of my preppiest outfits. I love love love this J.Crew whale sweater that I bought a few seasons ago, but in Northern California it always feels like a bit too much. However, in Upstate NY the preppy look fit right in! I wore it with a fun full yellow skirt for a look that’s perfectly summer.

The Winter’s End

With the end of winter approaching, I have been trying to wear my favorite pieces from the season as often as possible. I loved this skirt’s plaid pattern. I also love the pleating it has and the flared bottom. It is definitely a piece that I will miss once spring comes, until then I’ll be wearing it as often as possible!

Fall Stripes

Stripes are one of my favorite trends to wear every summer, however as the weather turns colder they become harder and harder to work into one’s wardrobe. I love this dress that I bought in early September from the Gap. The navy color allows it to be approachable during the fall months. It was a great thick, structured pattern and a zipper detail. I paired it with a burgundy bracelet and my two favorite fall staples- ballet flats and a headband.

A very special thank you to my dear and old friend Nicole for helping me out with these pictures! I had such an amazing time at your beautiful Vassar College!
